During his journey through the Burmese forests, the founder ofHimalayas, M. Manal, sighted a villager appeasing a restless elephant, giving it the root of the plant Rauwolfia serpentina.
Fascinated by the effect of the plant on the elephant, Mr. Manal later returned to India to seek scientific evidence of the calming power of Rauwolfia serpentina. Being still quite young, his mother gave him her bracelets to sell so that he could continue his research work. Himalaya was thus born.
Having fully understood the benefits of this herb, Mr. Manal then purchased a manually operated tablet compression machine, and began his work.
